Figure A - Cross
of Christ |
Aside from the origins of the Peace sign as a sign for the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC) and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in Britain during the late 50's, have you ever wondered what other meanings have been ascribed to this sign of Peace?
This symbol was resurrected in the early sixties and adopted during the peak of the Hippy era where free love and world peace were the mantra of the day. To reflect this creed, the Peace sign was accepted and has been a sign for peace, love and rebellion ever since. Let's take a look at the possible evolution of the Peace sign.
Interestingly, many feel the Peace sign has associations with the Cross of Christ. Notice Figure A. The sign of the Cross is a Christian emblem of faith, and for many, a sign of dedication to the belief in Christ and God.

But interestingly, on the opposite side of belief in God, is the adherence to the notion that there is NO God. Those who have this belief are known as Satanist and they use a Satanic symbol to reflect their disdain for the belief in God. This symbol is a perversion of the Christian emblem of faith and is displayed as an upside down Cross of Christ.
Wearing the Cross of Christ in an upside down manner represents the adherence to Satanic beliefs and principles. In Figure B we can see that their emblem or sign is indeed the upside down representation of the Cross of Christ.
Now, there are those who believe that at some unknown time a very clever fellow decided to add a few changes to the Satanic Cross. These changes were intended to disguise and evolve the Satanic Cross into another symbol that could be used as a hidden form of mockery of the Cross of Christ.
This new symbol was eventually accepted as an icon representing the movement for free love, peace and rebellion of the Hippy community. Notice Figure C.
To complete the disguise of the Satanic Cross, all that was needed was to bend the arms of the Satanic Cross downward. This new emblem was then given the moniker of peace which has been flashed on almost all Hippy signs, cars, buildings, and paintings back in the sixties and seventies.
Its interesting to note that, without even knowing it, the Love generation was possibly displaying the hidden mockery and hatred of the Cross of Christ when using the Peace sign to express their love and best wishes.
Today, the Peace sign is still a sign for love and used all over the world as an icon of peace... and very few know that it may contain a different meaning or hidden agenda.
| (Act 13:10) ... You master in every form of deception and recklessness, unscrupulousness, and wickedness, you son of the devil, you enemy of everything that is upright and good, will you never stop perverting and making crooked the straight paths of the Lord and plotting against His saving purposes? |
